She is a Volunteer worker for Social Development Research Institute. She has been a Trainer/Facilitator to promote self-employment schemes working with the grass root village organizations and providing training are her commitments towards community development for the last five years. The late, Eelaththunathan Koneswaran who was the senior member of the Tamil National Alliance and a candidate was her father’ brother. She has been involved in politics since 2000, as a result of the call for Tamil Parties to be united to contest.She has participated in the Awareness Raising Training programme conducted by AHEAD and the Gender Equality Training programme conducted by NECORD.

She says, “a political ground is necessary for the women in the communities to be aware of and identifying their problems and to find solutions. Therefore women should actively participate in politics”.
